Amro Menor

While I was a freshman in college, I started a blog as a creative pursuit to document my wardrobe choices and complain about the never-ending exams in school. Throughout the years, I have been able to use this space to share my outfits alongside personal achievements, and travel experiences that have shaped my way of thinking.

As a first generation immigrant, one of the hardest realizations I had was all the misconceptions people had of my place of origin. Thus, the intent of Iamabyssinia- referring to a former Ethiopian Empire- was to inject my identity into the blogging sphere. The past few years have awarded me many opportunities, through which I have redefined my purpose, visions and goals. With that being said I have decided to change the name of my blog to encapsulate my growth and future contributions to this space.

I have been fortunate to travel to many parts of the world and truly bask in the beautiful creations of the Almighty. As a result of these experiences, my knowledge of the world has expanded beyond the limited information found on textbooks and media channels. I have discovered beauty in places that society has routinely deemed unworthy. Consequently, I have learned to redefine beauty. Beauty is much more than a perfect outward appearance; it is inherent in each one of us.

Amro Menor translates to living beautifully in my native tongue, Amharic-the official language of Ethiopia. Living beautifully is deeper than its superficial connotation; it’s about being the best version of yourself. Through Amro Menor, I aspire to challenge misconceptions, fashionably.
